YIKES!! There's a mouse in the house!

Yes - we had a mouse in the house.  AAAHHHHGGGG.  I'm watching TV this evening and I heard an obnoxious squeaking noise.  I thought it was the cat doing something, but I saw it scurry across my living room floor. YUCK.  First thought, it was the largest spider known to man. ( We have a slight spider problem in the house).  You would think our mouser cat Felix, would have helped, but no, he wanted to hang outside.  It was up to me and Edwin to save the mouse and get him out.  We finally managed to lead him out the door, but then he fell through our grate.  We even moved the grate to save him, but alas, our efforts failed.  We mushed the mouse trying to save him.  Please everyone, 5 minutes of silence for the mouse.

I'm Baaack!

Yes - International Relations is finally over and I have somewhat of a life again.  I took an independent study course from BYU this summer for credit towards my teaching certification.  I had a year to complete it, but I needed only the summer.  I disappeared for awhile but I should be back, at least for now.  Thank you for your patience.

Very Long Intermission

It seems I have taken a two month intermission on my blog.  I have received a lot of flack about it.  Life just happened and then I forgot I even had a blog.  :)  Please know I will be catching up in a few days so please ignore the posting dates; they'll all be the same day.

Thank you for your patience.

The moments we remember

This moment of rememberance is how sweet our children truly are.  Robert woke up very early to which I begrudginly left bed and got him from his crib.  In the twilight hours,  he took his blanket, his cup of milk and climbed into his favorite rocking chair and sat in front of the TV. He was so sweet and in that instant, my baby seemed so grown up.  For some reason, that moment will forever be etched in my mind.

To My Friends

I'm not a fancy writer and can't even begin to think of creating a poem to express how I feel.  I've been looking at pictures, reading emails and realize I miss my friends.  Now let me back up a bit.  You have to understand I'm a social person, but I'm a hermit at heart.  It is so hard for me to get out and hang with friends. I still can't figure this one out.  Maybe its because I know goodbyes are always hard. But once I do decide to hang with my friends, I have the best time.  I have some of the greatest friends in the world and I've never been able to say it enough to them... "I love you" and "I really miss you!"

So here is to my friends who have hung in there with me and have always been by my side.   Thank you.

Now, come visit me in Germany!!!!!

AFN - It has arrived!

So what is AFN?  Armed Forces Network or the only TV we have in English.  I never thought I would be happy to see AFN again.  This is the military TV station and I must say in the past 16 years, they have made improvements.  They have more than 1 channel.  Yup, in the 80's we only had one television station unless you wanted to watch the German channels.  Another option was Sky Satellite, but then you are the only kid who knows more British singers from British MTV than you do American singers;  whose Justin Timberlake?

After a month and 1/2 of German TV and every movie Emma owns, we are up and live with AFN with about 25 channels.  Life as we know it is good.  We salute you, AFN.

Emma's funny for the day

When Emma gets into trouble, usually from beating her brother, she has to sit in time out and then apologize to her brother.  Today, she was jumping on the couch and after repeated, "Please quit jumping on the couch," she was sent to time out.  Without being told, she walked over to the couch, and very kindly stated, "sorry couch."

Our street (temporary anyway)

This for all those people that said I should bring my minivan.  Yea, I don't think so.  This is the street our temporary apartment is on.(The second photo, in front of the green van, is the door to our building.)  You have to parallel park.  I just don't see a Honda Odyssey fitting anywhere in these spots.  Hee, hee.

Easter Morning

Not only did the Easter bunny leave us baskets full of eggs and goodies, he also left us snow in his wake.  Its just a light dusting, but enough to make is beautiful outside - and well, its also freezing!  What's -2C??  All I know its below freezing.  :) The pictures are the view from our kitchen window.

Frohe Ostern! Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny found us in Germany and Emma couldn't be more excited.  She found all her eggs successfully and even left some for Robert to find.

We wish everyone a blessed and wonderful Easter.

Making Easter Eggs

After a big day at Horton Hears a Who, (Emma's first movie theatre experience), she got to make Easter Eggs in preparation for the Easter Bunny.  I have no idea who came up with the idea of painted speckled eggs, but I think
 we were successful.

Preschool Days are Here Again!

I can't believe it, but the base youth services group had an opening for Emma in their MWF afternoon classes.  She loves it and it is a battle to get her home after school.  Who can blame her.  You should see the toys and activities they have for the kids.  Emma's favorite part of the day is when she first arrives and she gets to say hi to the rabbit.  According to her, its her favorite and she loves him.  Of course, she thinks he lays eggs - thanks Easter Bunny.

Out and About

Finally after many days of rain, we had a beautiful Saturday, so we decided to take a walk downtown on the main shopping street - Hauptstrasse.  Little did we know, the entire city of Wiesbaden had the same idea.  It was shoulder to shoulder people.  Crazy!  But, Wiesbaden is full of beautiful parks and tons of shopping.  I also think there are hair salons every 3 doors
down, so at least the people look good here.  :)

Happy 1st Birthday, Robert

Robert celebrated his 1 year birthday in Wiesbaden.  His birthday was on Friday, the 7th, but since we did not have a camera until our air shipment arrived, we celebrated it on Wednesday. He was excited either way.  I'm not sure who had more fun, Dr. Emma or Robert.

We did it!  Our house sold and we will be closing on 3/31.  Of course, it took a move to Germany to get an offer.

I Want My House Back!

No, I don't want to keep it.  Believe you me, if you step in my driveway, I'm going to try and sell you something and that includes the house.  I'm just ready to have it back to myself and not have to keep it spotless with two small children running around in it.  Its a lot of work to make it look as though no one lives here.  The movers show up the week of February 18th so I have a lot to do until then.  So please, if you find it in your heart, buy my house! :)

The Big Sale

The house went on the market just a few days after Christmas.  We are very excited to report, our home has been a center of activity.  In just one week (2 1/2 weeks on the market) we have already had 7 showings.  2 of which are second showings.  We are hoping to have an offer soon.  We liked it when we bought it.  There has to be someone out there who likes it, too.
